Current and Returning Student Room Selection Process

Returners:

Application opens Feb 1 at 9:00 am by credit hours

Room selection closes Feb 28 at 11:59 pm EST

ROOM SIGN UPS

Beginning on February 1, room sign-ups will begin for students based on the number of credit hours earned as of December 2016. The following schedule will be used:

  • Feb 1 – Feb 4: Students with 91 hours and above may enter the portal to select a room
  • Feb 5 – Feb 11: Students with 61 hours and above may enter the portal to select a room
  • Feb 12 – Feb 18: Students with 31 hours and above may enter the portal to select a room
  • Feb 19 – Feb 25: Students with 0 hours and above may enter the portal to select a room

To select a bed space, please go to the ROOM SEARCH WIZARD section within your housing application, select a building, and then select a room/suite. After selecting the room, you will be prompted to select a bed space within that room from the drop down menu. Once the bed is selected, click RESERVE BED in order to reserve your space. REMINDER: The room search wizard will close at 12:00am on March 1 and students will not be allowed to sign up for a room for the 2017-2018 academic year and are no longer guaranteed housing.

NOTE: If you have reserved a bed previously, but would like to look for a different bed space, you must cancel the bed you reserved before you will be able to search other available bed spaces. If a bed has been cancelled, other students will be able to view and/or reserve it. Be careful during this process, as you may lose the bed to another student once the bed is cancelled. We will not be able to remove a new student from the room after he/she has selected the space.

Once your bed space is reserved, you will be guaranteed housing in that space. The Department of Campus Housing will not cancel your bed space without notification after it has been reserved.

CANCELLATION

If necessary, you may cancel your housing application and bed space online using the CANCELLATION PAGE of the housing application. The cancellation will be timestamped, documented and processed within 72 hours. If you choose to leave the college for any reason (withdrawal, transfer, leave of absence, graduation, academic dismissal etc.), please cancel your housing application online immediately. Notifying another campus department of your reason does not automatically cancel your housing application and room reservation. Cancellation penalties will apply based on the date of cancellation.

Missed Room Sign-Ups?

Current and returning stills who did not complete the room sign up process are no longer guaranteed housing. Students are encouraged to complete a housing interest form in our office; however completing the form does not guarantee housing. Students are assigned on a space available basis after ALL incoming students are assigned housing. Building locations and/or roommates are not guaranteed.

ROOM CHANGES

Students occasionally find themselves in a situation where they are unhappy with their living environment. This often happens at the beginning of a semester when students are adjusting to their new environment. If a student is having difficulty adjusting, s/he should contact their Resident Assistant (RA) and together they will work towards a solution. This frequently includes a roommate contract.

If the RA feels that the student or students need to talk further with a Residence Life staff member, they will be referred to their Residence Hall Director (RHD). If the RHD feels that a room change is in order, they will begin the room change process with the student.

Campus Housing will meet with the student to discuss the problem and review housing options that will best fit the student's needs.

Note: Room change requests are not accepted until 2 weeks into the Fall or Spring semester.

Students with Disabilities

Campus Housing recognizes the special needs of students with disabilities. We work in conjunction with the Center for Disability Services to coordinate proper facilities and arrangements for students with a documented disability. If you have a physical need that would require special housing, please call Campus Housing at 843.953.5523 and Disability Services at 843.953.1431.

Temporary Housing

Due to high interest in on-campus housing, Campus Housing reserves the right to utilize temporary housing spaces. These spaces are alleviated when traditional space becomes available. If you are affected by this situation, you will be notified by Campus Housing prior to the start of the academic year.
