Move-In Information

Move-In: August 20-22, 2021

You must make an appointment by August 1 to move in. Please refer to your move-in email or the move-in webpage for further instructions.

Key Pick-Up Location: McAlister Residence Hall (80-B St. Philip Street)

You will need to provide either a driver’s license or government-issued ID in order to get your key and Cougar Card.

Driving Directions

Since many streets are closed for move-in, we provide residence-hall specific driving directions to get you to the unloading zone for check-in. Please use these and not GPS to drive into campus for move-in.

Please note, there will be NO ACCESS to St. Philip Street from Calhoun Street.

From I-26: Take exit 221B and turn RIGHT onto Meeting Street. Turn RIGHT onto Columbus Street, then LEFT onto King Street. Turn RIGHT onto Vanderhorst Street just before Saint Matthew's Lutheran Church, then turn LEFT on St. Philip Street.

From Highway 17 North: After you cross the Ashley River, bear LEFT at the first fork, following signs for Cannon Street. At the next fork, stay RIGHT and continue down Cannon Street. Turn RIGHT onto Rutledge Avenue, turn LEFT onto Vanderhorst Street, then turn RIGHT onto St. Philip Street.

From Highway 17 South: After you cross the Cooper River, follow signs for Hwy 17 S, then bear RIGHT onto the King Street exit ramp. Turn RIGHT on King Street, turn RIGHT onto Vanderhorst Street just before Saint Matthew's Lutheran Church, then turn LEFT on St. Philip Street. 

Please review the map below for information about where you'll unload your belongings. This was also sent to you in your detailed move-in email.

After unloading, you will be directed to PG garage. Vehicles will be directed to exit onto Calhoun St. Turn right onto Calhoun St. Turn right onto Coming St. Turn right onto Vanderhorst St. Turn right onto St. Philip St. Pull into PG entrance on right.

Health and Safety Protocols for Move-In

General reminder: You must adhere to all health and safety protocols and requirements outlined by the College of Charleston.

  • Residents may bring no more than two people with them into the residence halls or houses to assist with move-in.
  • A limited number of carts will be available, and we encourage you to bring your own if possible.
  • Please also bring your own sanitizing wipes for your own use, and to wipe down any shared carts when you are done.
